United States’ Aims:
President Woodrow Wilson put forth his 14 pointsàrepresented the final position at the Conference and helped to shape the world’s opinion.
The Most Important Points of his 14 Points:
1) No more secret treaties
2) Countries must seek to reduce their weapons and their armed forces
3) National self-determination should allow people of the same nationality to govern themselves and one nationality should not have the power to govern another
4) All countries should belong to the League of Nations to keep the peace around the world.
Wilson's main concern was to rebuild the European economy, have self-determination, promote free trade, create appropriate mandates for former colonies, and the most important was the creation of the League of Nations in order to keep the peace.
Unlike France and Britain, Wilson opposed the harsh treatment of Germany (reparations).
